Tour
Expedition BlueCity
with Superuse Studios
During Rotterdam Architecture Month, dive into BlueCity’s ecosystem and meet circular architect Superuse Studios
Zero-waste living, developing future proof materials such as tiles made of duckweed, walls made of seaweed and beer from rainwater. On the banks of the Nieuwe Maas, on the Maasboulevard, in that building that is often still called Tropicana, there is our blue city. Bright minds, pioneers and inventors work together with nature and on the Rotterdam of tomorrow.
During an Expedition BlueCity you will dive into the world of BlueCity in one afternoon and get a tour of the former subtropical swimming paradise. Take a look at the BlueCity Lab, the world’s first circularly converted bio lab, meet a circular entrepreneur and smell, taste and see how the circular economy is getting hands on in BlueCity!
Superuse Studios
Every BlueCity Expedition you will meet a different circular BlueCity entrepreneur, and during Rotterdam Architecture Month it is (of course) architect collective Superuse. An innovative design approach, open source method and ditto tools – that’s what Superuse Studios is (inter)nationally recognized for. You get to see an example of their circular and sustainable design firsthand, as Superuse took on the big job in 2015 of transforming the abandoned Tropicana swimming pool into a model circular city. How they got to work building the circular production spaces and offices in BlueCity? Come see and hear about it!
