Ship ahoy! On Saturday 24 June, we again board Het Jazzschip, a dynamic music programme on the water. With one of the headliners of the Spido fleet, we will sail down the Maas to the rhythm of vibrant concerts.

Program

The sailors cast off the ropes and we set course west, downstream. We do not hear a ship’s horn, but the warm red-copper sound of the trombone. Nabou Claerhout takes off with her brand-new trio featuring Reinier Baas on guitar and whirlwind Jamie Peet on percussion.

British organist Kit Downes along with Mexican vocalist/bassist Fuensanta lead the ‘service’ in Maassluis’s Groote Kerk. By early evening, Het Jazzschip is prepared for the journey back to Rotterdam. Once everyone is back on board, the captain turns the ship out of the harbour and sets course 90 degrees east, upstream. While enjoying a glass of beer or wine, the sun at your back, the band KOFFIE bursts into life with summer afrobeats and jazz.

From the ship, you have a beautiful panoramic view of the city, giving you a unique view of Rotterdam’s skyline. Het Jazzschip is a must for lovers of music, architecture and Rotterdam. Welcome aboard Het Jazzschip!
